Department of International Relations and the EU welcomed its first group of students in the academic year 2005-2006. The aim of the program is to provide the students with the required knowledge and skills to be able to analyze the structure and functioning of international relations and the EU and also the actors of them. It is a priority for the  program to lead the students to analyze current affairs through a humanitarian and peaceful conceptual perspective and enhance their skills with analytical tools to discover the interaction between developments in the world and Turkish politics.

In the 2013-2014 academic year, the program will accept 60 students 6 of which will be having a full scholarship. During their undergraduate years, academic consultance services will be provided to each student by the permanent academic staff. 

The program has an interdisciplinary curriculum with the cooperation of many other departments. Therefore, the students attending the program have the opportunity to achieve dual major degrees and minor degrees.
